The Yobe State Government has described as false and misleading a post on social media claiming that it has approved 70,000 Nigerian Naira as the new minimum wage for its workers.
Dismissing the alleged claim, the Director General, Press and Media Affairs to the governor, Mamman Mohammed, in a statement made available to LEADERSHIP in Damaturu, said the Yobe State government had not issued any statement regarding the minimum wage.
Mohammed said the state government was still working on it, and would issue a statement on the new minimum wage as soon as it was completed.
“It is highly irresponsible, pre-emptive and misleading for any individual to speak or post any statement in favour of or on behalf of the state government,” the statement said.
He said the alleged post neither gave details nor mentioned when and where the statement came from, making the content professionally defamatory.
The Director-General then advised the public to “ignore mischievous and misleading posts as you will be served with official and credible statement from the government.”
