Chelsea sign Danish goalkeeper, Filip Jorgensen 

Chelsea Football Club has announced the signing of Danish goalkeeper Philip Jorgensen from Villarreal.

The 22-year-old has signed a seven-year contract with the Blues and will link up with his new team-mates during their summer tour of the US.

“This move is a dream come true. I am very excited to have signed for Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world. I can't wait to get to know everyone and start playing with all my new teammates,” Jorgensen was quoted as saying in a statement released by the club on Tuesday.

Born in Sweden, Jorgensen joined Villarreal at the age of 15, after playing in the academies of Swedish clubs GIF Nike and Malmö and Spanish clubs Santa Catalina and Penya Arrabal and Mallorca.

After spending three years in the Spanish club's youth setup, he was promoted to Villarreal B and made his senior debut in October 2020 against SCR Pena Deportiva.

Jorgensen soon began training regularly with the first-team and established himself in the Villarreal B side. In December 2021, he got a chance to make his debut in a 7-1 win over Atletico Sanluqueño in the Copa del Rey.

His La Liga debut came in January 2023 and, ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, Jorgensen has secured his place as Villarreal's number one goalkeeper.

He featured 37 times in all competitions last season and helped Villarreal finish eighth in the Spanish top flight.
