Birnin-Kebbi – Kebbi State Police Command has been plunged into mourning over the brutal killing of the Divisional Police Officer of Wasagu Division, SP Haliru Liman, by a military officer attached to OPHD Sector 6 Dan Marke Area Bukuyum Zamfara State.
SP Liman was on his way to Birnin Kebbi to attend a conference on August 24, 2024 but he was stopped by the military officer and asked him to introduce himself, as soon as he introduced himself, the military officer pointed a gun at him and shot him on his forehead which resulted in his instant death.
The Kebbi Police Command has condemned the unprovoked brutal killing of the DPO and asked relevant authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident, even as it described the killing as unacceptable and unjustified.
The image maker of the command, SP Nafiu Abubakar, in a statement decried the moribund inter-agency cooperation and harmonious working relationship, saying “the police did not expect that the military, which was professionally trained to work with other security agencies in the country, would be involved in the unprovoked killing of a senior police officer”.
The statement, however, did not say whether the military officer has been arrested or not but assured the families of the deceased that justice would be done, ASP Yajid Abubakar, Image Maker, Zamfara Police Command, consoled the families of the deceased and vowed to get to the root of the matter.
