Settle Your Outstanding Debt, IBEDC Tells UCH  – Independent Newspaper Nigeria

lagos – Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has urged the University of Ibadan Teaching Hospital, UCH, to settle its outstanding debt so that it can enjoy uninterrupted power supply.

The power company had disconnected the teaching hospital because of N400 million unpaid electricity debt.

The power company said in a statement on Wednesday that it expects to meet 100% of its market obligations, and that outstanding debts of key customers like UCH directly contribute to the liquidity crisis within Nigeria's power sector.

Expressing sympathy with the hospital's situation but confirming that the connection was due to UCH's significant outstanding debt, the company said it was forced to take this action because it had to meet the increasing financial obligations to the market. Had to face pressure.

It reiterated its commitment to work with UCH and is ready to discuss a flexible payment arrangement that can be mutually agreed upon by both parties.

It added: BEDC continues to advocate timely payment from all customers, stressing that stable and reliable electricity supply is dependent on the financial health of the sector. The company called on UCH and all other customers to pay their dues to help resolve the ongoing challenges facing Nigeria's electricity distribution system.
