A Lagos-based doctor, Idara Bassey, who was declared wanted in connection with the death of a 36-year-old lady, Abiola, during buttock augmentation surgery at a clinic located at Lekki Phase 1, is now in police custody.
Abiola had visited the clinic for a buttock augmentation procedure where she tragically died.
BBL is a popular augmentation surgery that shapes the buttocks while removing excess fat from other areas of the body.
Baisi is currently under investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Pentney.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed his arrest.
Bassey had earlier fled on August 26, 2024, following the death of Abiola during a buttock augmentation procedure at her clinic.
Recall that the driver of the deceased reported the incident at the Maroko Police Division.
“On their arrival, the clinic owner instructed a nurse to give Abiola the injection. Moments later, chaos ensued as the woman fainted and began gasping for breath.
The driver in a desperate bid for help rushed Abiola to another hospital in Lekki Phase 1 but on arrival, the staff on duty confirmed her dead.
“Detectives from the command visited the scene, collected evidence, inspected and photographed the woman's remains, and then transferred the body to the mortuary for postmortem,” the police said.
