Governorship Campaign Management Council People's Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress There has been a clash between the Congress and the Congress ahead of the September 21 election in Edo State.
Making the first attack at a briefing in Benin, Director General of the Campaign Council of the PDP, Mathew Iduoriyekemwen, alleged that unidentified leaders of the APC, in collusion with some policemen, had hatched a plan to harass, intimidate and persecute some members of the PDP, with a view to sow chaos in Edo.
He said: “We urge the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Agbetokun, to uphold the high integrity attached to his office, and also note that the Nigeria Police is for all Nigerians and not an extension of the APC.”
“We also urge the IGP to use his powers to conduct a fair and thorough investigation based on our complaints.”
However, the Publicity Director, Edo APC Governorship Campaign Council, Comrade Orobosa Omo-Ojo, accused Iduoriyekemwen and other PDP leaders of compromising the truth.
Omo-Ojo said: “Governor Godwin Obaseki and his handpicked godson, Asu Ighodalo, are agents of instability. Their actions so far are an attempt to harass the police and block investigations into violent crimes perpetrated on the state and its people.
“If it had any sense, the PDP government in the state would have disbanded the Edo State Security Network (ESSN).”
