The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ondo State on Thursday distributed sensitive materials ahead of the governorship election scheduled for Saturday, November 16.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Ondo State, Mrs. Toyin Babalola, who monitored the exercise held at the Akure branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), assured residents of the state, political parties and all stakeholders of the commission. Preparation to conduct transparent, free and fair elections.
Specifically, Babalola said the prompt delivery of sensitive materials was to show that the commission was prepared for the election, promising that the electoral body would be transparent in the conduct of the election.

Babalola said the materials would be taken to 18 local government areas with the help of security agencies.
His words: “You can see that the delivery work is going on very smoothly. The farthest local governments have started moving towards their local governments. All the other local governments have received their material, they are checking and they are loading the vehicles.
“I am sure we should come out of this in the next hour and a half. You can see the logistics that we are delivering today, it's just 10 minutes after 12 noon, the vehicles are already moving. Ilaje has left, Ese-Odo has left, Okitipupa and Irele are loading. They will leave soon.
“Then we move to the next set, Akoko North-East, North-West, Akoko South-West, South-East, Owo and Ose; They have collected all their stuff and will be leaving any moment from now.
“Then the Odigbo, Ondo-East, Ondo-West, Ifeador axis; They are going. We are on the way. We are moving forward. This movement is not local government by local government. We are protesting together.
“The difficult areas on water, they are in Ilaje and Ase-Odo and we have identified those areas and we will have boats that will carry men and materials. We also have the support of the Navy. They are giving us gunboats to secure the movement.
“For the land where we have difficult terrain, we will head to the place where vehicles can reach and we will continue the rest with the appropriate means of transportation.”
Appealing to political parties to desist from violence on the election day, the REC said that sensitive material is being distributed to ensure that no ward or polling unit is left out or does not receive material for the elections.
The Chairman of APC in the state, Ade Adetumahin, and the State Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Mr. Adesanya Olaoluwa, commended INEC for its transparency in the exercise, saying all parties are ready to cooperate with the commission. ,
Meanwhile, representatives of political parties contesting the elections and security agencies including Police, NSCDC, FRSC, Immigration, Customs and DSS were at the exercise site.
