Edo State Governor Mande Okpebholo has ordered the immediate dissolution of the governing councils of all state-owned tertiary institutions and the removal of management staff at Edo Specialist Hospital and Stella Obasanjo Hospital in Benin City.
Secretary to the state government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, gave the directive in a special announcement on Wednesday, stressing the urgency of compliance.
“This is to declare for the information of the general public that the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Mande Okpebholo, has approved the dissolution of the Governing Councils of all state-owned tertiary institutions in Edo State with immediate effect.” Read the statement.
Ikhilor directed members of the dissolved councils to hand over all government properties in their possession to the heads of their respective institutions without any delay.
Similarly, the dismissal of management staff of Edo Specialist Hospital and Stella Obasanjo Hospital was confirmed, with the affected personnel directed to transfer government property to the most senior officials within their respective establishments.
This announcement signals a significant change in the educational and healthcare administration of Edo State, reflecting Governor Okpebholo's commitment to restructuring and enhancing institutional efficiency.
