National Democratic Alliance in (NADECO) United States of america He has urged the organisers of the protest to make it peaceful.
“NADECO USA unequivocally supports the planned peaceful protest, provided it adheres to the principles of nonviolence,” its leader, Lloyd Ukwu, said in a statement.
He said the protesters were merely demonstrating their fundamental human right under Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which is inherent to individuals regardless of ethnicity, sex, nationality, religion or social status.
Ukwu described protests as an age-old way for citizens to express themselves, saying that “the constitutional right to expression, whether political or social, is protected in Nigeria’s legal framework.”
He said protests were not new to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, they too were a product of protests that started with the annulled election of Chief Moshood Abiola on June 12, 1993.
