An Air Peace Lagos bound flight experienced a bird strike shortly before take off in Abuja early Thursday morning.
The bird strike resulted in a return to the ramp to ensure the safety of the aircraft on board. Bird strike is a collision between a bird and an aircraft during flight or on a takeoff or landing roll.
According to a statement from Ezike Ndiulo, Air Peace's head of corporate communications, the bird hit at 6:30 a.m. and all passengers deboarded the plane normally.

The statement read: “We wish to inform our respected passengers that our Abuja-Lagos 06:30 flight experienced a bird strike before take off, resulting in a return to the ramp as a safety measure. All passengers disembarked normally.
“We have deployed a replacement aircraft for the affected flight to minimize disruptions, thus ensuring that passengers continue their journey immediately.
“We appeal for the understanding of our valued passengers affected by this development as well as passengers on other flights that may be delayed.
“At Air Peace, we are committed to providing safe, comfortable and reliable air travel for all our passengers.”
