Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu will from Monday unveil 36 newly constructed roads, five bridges and one pedestrian bridge across the state.
This information was given by Special Advisor, Engineering on Infrastructure. Olufemi Daramola, during a press conference at the Bagouda Kaltho Press Centre, Lagos Government Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja on Friday.
Daramola described the unveiling as a major milestone in the commitment of the Sanwo-Olu administration to infrastructure development.
He stressed that the projects are in line with the THEMES+ agenda, which prioritizes traffic management and transportation to enhance the well-being and productivity of Lagos residents.
Citing the Governor’s recent budget presentation, Daramola reiterated: “Continued investment in infrastructure is the backbone of our development agenda. The Greater Lagos we envision will emerge based on high-quality infrastructure that will keep pace with population growth.
The projects are spread across several local government areas, including Agege, Alimosho, Badagry, Eti-Osa, Ikeja and Kosofe.
Some of the highlights include the rehabilitation of Dopemu Road in Agege, construction of Abiola-Onijemmo Link Road with a bridge at Ifako-Ijaye, reconstruction of Irede Road in Amuwo Odofin, and rehabilitation of Oyinkan Abayomi Drive in Ikoyi, Eti. -Osa.
Despite global economic challenges and inflationary pressures, Daramola said the projects were prioritized to ensure timely completion.
“The completion of these projects amidst the economic recession reflects the administration’s commitment to its promises and the prosperity of Lagosians,” he said.
Commissioning is scheduled to commence on Monday, December 9, 2024 with the Abiola-Onigemo Link Road at Ifako-Ijaiye and the Alapere Pedestrian Bridge at Kosofe.
On Tuesday, December 10, Governor Sanwo-Olu will open the Ikoyi Road network, which includes Oyinkan Abayomi Drive, Femi Okunnu Road and McPherson Avenue.
As the administration moves through its second term, Daramola assured that infrastructure development will remain a priority. “We will resolutely build a Lagos that is safe, prosperous and economically vibrant,” he said.

- Rehabilitation/Upgradation of Babajide Sanwo-Olu Road (Dopemu Road) at Agege.
- Construction of Babafemi Dada Road along the Bridge at Alimosho, Yinka Folarin, Jamiu Lawal and Shalom Academy Road Network.
