The Nigerian Government has reiterated its commitment to protecting the rights of children and ending violence against them at the historic first Global Conference on Ending Violence Against Children in remote Bogota, Colombia.
Minister of Women Affairs Iman Suleiman-Ibrahim led Nigeria's delegation of 1,600 participants including 143 ministers and 93 countries with a commitment to drive transformational change towards a Nigeria and a world free of violence against children.
In a statement on Wednesday by the Media Adviser, Mr Jonathan Eze, the Minister stressed Nigeria's commitment and accountability to end violence against children under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda.
In his remarks, the Minister outlined several initiatives and policies of the Nigerian Government that focus on children and women, with a commitment to advance their interests.
He said there is an opportunity and need to accelerate; To bring about transformational change on child protection.
“The first Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children represents a historic moment; Reimagining a world where all children are safe in their homes, schools, communities and online and making commitments in line with the global child protection challenge.
“The Nigerian government under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu is committed to improving living conditions for children and has created viable means towards protecting and investing in children as national treasures and future leaders.”

According to him, this historic event serves as an important platform to address the urgent steps needed to protect every child, calling on nations to unite in the face of profound challenges and responsibilities.
The conference provided the highest-profile platform to showcase national progress, announce new commitments, and amplify diverse voices. The participants met and resolved to give priority to child protection issues.
Together, delegates at the Ministerial Conference underlined the huge stakes involved in building a safer, smarter and more secure future for the next generation.
