Police in Lagos on Thursday brought two female marketers to an Ojo magistrate court for alleged conspiracy and theft of N2.2 million from their employer.
Gift Effiong, 21; and Chimamanda Nomeh, 20; Charges in two cases were presented before Magistrate LKJ Layeni.
However, he pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, ASP Simon Uche, told the court that the defendants were employees of Unique Blessed Enterprises, based at the Trade Fair Complex in Ojo, Lagos State.
He said they conspired to commit the crimes between October and November 13.
Uche said the defendants stole a total of N2.2 million from his employer, Mrs. Joy Uzochukwu, while she worked as marketers for his company.
Uche said the company was saving daily contributions from a group.
He alleged that the defendants collected the amount from the contributors and diverted it for their personal use.
The alleged offenses contravene Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law, 2015 of Lagos State.
Layeni granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N500,000 each with two sureties.
He adjourned the matter for mention till December 20.
