Gunmen have kidnapped an ex-soldier. Delta Technical Education CommissionerMs Joan Onyemaechi, at a church premises in Asaba, the Delta capital.
Onyemaechi, a former member of the House of Representatives, was abducted during a church service.
The gunmen shot dead two people, including a police orderly of the former MLA, during the attack.
Another victim, who was passing by, was hit by a stray bullet and died on the spot.
Another police orderly and the politician's driver were also reported to have sustained gunshot injuries.
Gunmen stormed his church, King Jesus and I Church, located on DBS Road, and opened fire sporadically, The Nation reports.
The former police commissioner was taken away in his SUV amid heavy firing.
The Delta Police Public Relations Officer and Superintendent of Police, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the abduction of the politician.
He said that two people, including a policeman, died in this incident.
He said that only the former MLA was kidnapped.
