Jean-Philippe Mateta scored the decisive goal in extra time as France beat Egypt 3–1 to qualify for the final of the Olympic men's football tournament.
The dramatic finish will be followed by a world-class final at the Parc des Princes in Paris on Friday between hosts France and Spain, who beat Morocco 2-1 earlier in the day.
Egypt took the lead at the Stade de Lyon through Mahmoud Saber's 62nd minute goal and France took the lead on three occasions but finally got the breakthrough when Mateta scored the equaliser in the 83rd minute after Michael Olise was put through the area.
Egypt's Omar Fayed was shown a second yellow card shortly after extra time began and had to leave the field. France took advantage and Mateta scored his second goal of the match with a powerful header at the back post.
Olise scored the third goal in the second period of extra time to seal victory for the hosts, who have won every match they have played at this year's Olympics under manager Thierry Henry. France is seeking the powerhouse soccer nation's second gold medal after triumphing in Los Angeles in 1984.
Egypt are due to play the bronze medal match against federation rivals Morocco in Nantes on Thursday.
