Four men have been sentenced to a combined 76 years in prison for their roles in the fatal stabbing of 43-year-old Nathan Muir in Hounslow.
The attack occurred outside a residence on Parkside Road, TW3, on 13 October 2023.
Following an extensive investigation by the Metropolitan Police, the Old Bailey handed down the sentence on Thursday.
One of the men, Mahdi Mumin, 24, of Lever Street, Islington, was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 24 years, while Khalfani Sinclair, 23, of Maple Road, Hayes, was also sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term Was heard. Sentenced to 22 years plus 16 months for possession of a bladed article, to run concurrently.
Philip Jones, 47, of Signet Avenue, Feltham, was jailed for life with a minimum of 20 years, while Christian Brimah, 24, of Elruz Close, West Drayton, was jailed for 10 years for murder.
According to the Met Police, the men's trial began on 2 September, with the jury reaching a verdict by 22 October.
Mumin and Sinclair were unanimously convicted of murder, while Jones was found guilty by majority verdict.
Sinclair also admitted possessing the “zombie knife” used in the attack. Brimah was acquitted of murder but convicted of manslaughter.
Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie, who led the investigation, described the incident as a “sudden, unprovoked and violent attack”.
He added: “Nathan, known as 'Neff', was a loving father, son and brother. He was exploited by a drugs line controlling supply to the Hounslow area. As he crossed paths with the counter-protesters, he was ambushed and fatally stabbed with a zombie knife.
Howie also praised the residents of Parkside Road for their efforts in caring for Nathan before emergency services arrived.
Nathan's family issued a joint statement expressing their grief: “Nathan was brutally murdered, and our lives have been torn apart. He was selfless and caring, always ready to help others. The lack of remorse on the part of the defendants is beyond belief. They will never be forgiven for snatching him from us.”
His mother added: “Every week, I remember the moment Nathan screamed for help and said he had been stabbed. He didn't want to die – he loved his family, especially his son, who was now deprived of a father at crucial stages of his life.''
