The Kano State Police Command has announced the arrest of several foreign nationals accused of sponsoring protesters. This revelation came after a security meeting between the state Commissioner of Police, Salman Dogo, and Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf.
During the protests, which began as a call to “end bad governance,” some demonstrators were seen waving Russian flags, a development that has sparked concern among authorities. Following this, security forces intensified their operations, resulting in the arrests of foreign suspects.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Dogo said, “The police and other security agencies will crack down on anyone trying to tamper with the security of the state.”

He stressed that the authorities are taking all necessary steps to maintain peace and order in the state.
In view of the escalating situation, Governor Abba Yusuf called an emergency meeting with heads of security agencies. After the meeting, the governor announced further relaxation of the existing curfew, which will now run from 6am to 6pm.
“We are committed to ensuring the security of Kano State and the well-being of our citizens,” Governor Yusuf said.
“The relaxation of the curfew is aimed at reducing the burden on our people while we continue to closely monitor the situation.”
Despite the relaxation of the curfew, the governor assured residents that security forces would remain on full alert to prevent any further disturbances.
The state government and security agencies have urged residents to remain calm and law abiding, and efforts are underway to stabilise the situation.
This latest development has added a new dimension to the nationwide protests, as authorities work to ascertain the full extent of foreign involvement and its implications on national security.
