Edo Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has ordered the immediate and indefinite suspension of the collection of all revenues in the state, with special focus on motor parks and others, until further notice.
According to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, Okpebholo also ordered the state police commissioner to arrest anyone violating the order.
The Governor said that he will soon review the issues related to the collection and decide the future strategy.
“Collection of revenue in the state has been suspended indefinitely. Anyone seen collecting revenue on behalf of the state government will be arrested.
“The Police Commissioner has been ordered that whoever violates the order and collects any kind of revenue on behalf of the state government will be arrested.
“The Governor will soon address the issues and concerns raised. He will issue new instructions soon. Till then, no one is authorized to collect revenue on behalf of the state government,” the statement said.
