The Federal High Court in Port-Harcourt will on January 21, 2025, deliver judgment on the suits seeking to declare the seats of 27 MPs in Rivers State vacant.
The suits were filed separately by the Labor Party, Victor Oko-Jumbo, and two of his associates, Sokari Good Boy and Adolphus Timothy.
The plaintiffs filed the case to seek judicial interpretation of the alleged defection of 27 lawmakers led by Speaker Martins Amewule from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
When the case resumed in court, the parties confirmed their pleadings and exchanged evidence and argued points of law.
It was revealed that the video clip of the alleged defection was played in an open court and the evidence was marked and admitted by the court.
The presiding judge, Justice Emmanuel Obele, adjourned the case to January 21, 2025 to deliver judgment on preliminary issues.
