Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN), one of the lawyers for the Take-It-Back Movement, said the specified venues to the police will be used as meeting points and Nigerians will not be confined there during the 10-day protests.
The organisers of the planned nationwide protest have rejected the proposal of the Nigeria Police Force for confined protest.

This protest slated for August 1-10 is aimed to express their displeasure over the hardships President Bola Tinubu’s administration has created.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun while addressing the protest organisers in a Zoom meeting he hosted on Tuesday evening, said the public demonstrations should be confined to designated venues.
The IGP argued that it is for security reasons and to avoid having the protest hijacked by miscreants.
“It is not advisable to go on street processions because as you are planning peaceful protests, some are planning violence,” Egbetokun cautioned.
However, this proposal was vehemently rejected by concerned Nigerians who attended the meeting, viewing it as a violation of their constitutional right to assembly as granted by the Constitution.

He said, “We said for proper coordination, we will stick to the venue which we have specified to the police but those venues are only points of convergence. They are just places where we are to start the protest.
“We insisted that the police could not confine us to the venue alone. I told him that our letter indicated that we are going to have public possession. That all of us on that call have been having these processions long time and we are used to it. We will handle it as long as the police offer us security.”
