Former heads of state Yakubu Gowon and Abdulsalami Abubakar are reportedly attending the meeting virtually.
Most of the governors of the 36 states are physically present at the meeting chaired by President Bola Tinubu,

The meeting, which began at 12pm at the Council Chambers of the Villa, is the first meeting since President Tinubu assumed office in May last year.
Mr Buhari has been touring the seat of power since leaving office on May 29.

It is not clear what the agenda of the meeting is. However, indications are that it will discuss the state of the economy and recent protests against hunger and hardship.
The Council last met on February 10 last year, before the general elections.
